Tori Oetting
Online Learning Content Coordinator
Tori Oetting is the Online Learning Content Coordinator at AESA Prep Academy, where she blends her extensive background in nursing with her passion for education. Originally from Houston, Tori moved to Austin in 2009 and graduated from Lake Travis High School. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with highest honors from The University of Texas at Austin in 2016. Beginning her nursing career in 2017, Tori took on diverse roles in psychiatry, school nursing, ICU step-down, med-surg, and the operating room. Her leadership capabilities quickly led her to become a charge nurse, where she was responsible for overseeing patient care, managing nursing staff, and ensuring smooth unit operations.

In her role as a charge nurse, Tori found herself frequently in teaching roles, both with her patients and her team. She was committed to educating patients about their health, breaking down complex medical information into understandable concepts to empower them in their care. Similarly, she was dedicated to mentoring and educating her staff, ensuring they were well-informed and supported in their roles. This passion for education and the desire to make complex topics accessible naturally transitioned into her next career phase.

Driven by her enthusiasm for teaching and learning, Tori shifted her focus from nursing to education, beginning as an online health and nutrition instructor. Her nursing experience provided her with a unique perspective, enabling her to create course content that connected real-world health scenarios with academic learning, making the material relevant and practical for students.
At AESA Prep Academy, Tori continues to apply the same dedication to education that she did in her nursing career. Inspired by the quote, "Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself," she believes in the transformative power of learning. Tori’s approach to education is deeply influenced by her nursing background, where understanding the whole patient was crucial. She now helps students see the bigger picture in their studies, showing them how different subjects interrelate.

Tori’s experience in nursing has also shaped her ability to handle diverse learning needs, adapt to different situations, and communicate effectively—skills that are invaluable in her current role. She understands the importance of patience, empathy, and clarity, whether she’s working with students directly or developing content that will guide them through their educational journey.

In her free time, she enjoys cooking, exercising, and reading.
