Sarah Harbour

Head of PK-8

Sarah is proud to serve as AESA's Head of PK-8, where her role spans early childhood through middle school. She holds a Bachelor of Arts and brings a background in occupational therapy, along with decades of experience working with children in classrooms, communities, and leadership roles. This blend of clinical insight and educational expertise shapes how she thinks about learning — attentive to how children grow developmentally, not just academically.

Sarah's educational philosophy centers on the belief that childhood — from those first years through the middle school transition — is the foundation for lifelong learning. She champions a balanced approach that meets the academic, social, and emotional needs of every child, whether they're building fine motor skills at a sensory table or leading an independent project as an eighth grader.

She believes in hands-on, inquiry-driven teaching that integrates play-based learning with strong academic foundations at every grade level — from open-ended exploration in the early years to collaborative, real-world problem-solving in middle school. Her goal is to nurture curiosity, creativity, and a sense of community among her students, preparing them not just for the next grade level, but for life.

Outside of AESA, Sarah is a mom of five and lives on Moon Wrangler Ranch, a small ranch full of goats, horses, bees, chickens, and dogs. She often brings that same spirit of hands-on discovery to campus, sharing newborn farm animals with students throughout the year — a small but meaningful reminder that some of the best learning happens outside of the classroom.
