Madelyn Knauss

Sciences & Health

Madelyn teaches science and health at AESA. She holds both a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources Management and Wildlife Biology (2020) and a Master of Science in Biology (2022) from Texas Tech University. She is STEM certified and holds several specialized certifications in marine ecology, coral and shark identification, sea turtle ecology, and scuba diving through Scuba Schools International and Dive World Austin.

Before joining AESA, Madelyn taught various college-level labs at Texas Tech, including Medical Entomology, Field Herpetology, and Marine Biology. From 2023 to 2025, she served as the lab coordinator for the university’s largest field course, overseeing logistics and field experiences for hundreds of students. She has also contributed to published marine mammal toxicology research and held a leadership role in the Texas Academy of Science.

Originally from Austin, Madelyn was inspired by Steve Irwin’s passion for animals and conservation. She hopes to bring that same energy and curiosity into her classroom by making science hands-on and engaging. Outside of school, she enjoys hiking, reading, and swimming.
