Social Studies & Health
Kyei-Han Ko, or Mr. Ko as his students call him, is in his fifth year at AESA, where he teaches Middle School Social Studies and Health. He has a Bachelor of Arts in History from California Baptist University and a Master of Divinity from Baylor University. Before teaching, he spent over ten years in church music ministry, where he met people from around the world.

Ethnically Korean and originally from South Korea, Mr. Ko's family immigrated to the United States in the 1990s. They first settled in New York City, then moved to New Orleans, Southern California, and are now based in Texas. These diverse experiences have shaped his worldview and appreciation for different cultures.

Mr. Ko aims to help AESA students become global citizens who understand human history and the interconnectedness of all things. He believes that studying history goes beyond learning facts; it's also about developing empathy and asking meaningful questions.

Outside of teaching, Mr. Ko is passionate about food and travel. He has visited numerous countries, including India, Germany, Mexico, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, South Korea, Japan, and Colombia. He is excited to continue exploring and learning from the world around him.
