Julio Rivas

Physical Education & Athletics

Soccer and education have always gone hand in hand throughout Julio's career. He is passionate about helping young people grow—not only as athletes, but as students and individuals.

He began his teaching and coaching career at Cypress Lakes High School, where he spent five years teaching Government and World Geography while serving as the JV soccer coach. During that time, the program compiled a record of 73 wins, 9 losses, and 17 ties, built on a culture of accountability, development, and teamwork.

He then spent three years at Katy Taylor High School, teaching World Geography and World History while coaching at the varsity level. The team earned a 41-19-6 record, and he continued to emphasize character, discipline, and a commitment to excellence both on and off the field. He was chosen as campus coach and district coach of the year.

He then went on to Kingsborough Middle School, where he taught Texas History and U.S. History while leading the soccer program to the city championship game. Working with middle school students reinforced his belief in the importance of developing confidence, leadership, and a love for learning and competition at an early age.

He also had the opportunity to serve as an assistant coach at Texas A&M University–San Antonio, where he helped the women’s soccer program earn a berth in the conference tournament. Coaching at the collegiate level broadened his perspective and strengthened his understanding of player development at every stage.

Whether in the classroom or on the soccer field, his mission has always been the same: to inspire, challenge, and support young people as they pursue their goals. I believe that the lessons learned through education and athletics—discipline, resilience, teamwork, and integrity—prepare students for success long after graduation. He is grateful for every opportunity to mentor the next generation and looks forward to continuing to make a positive impact in the lives of students and athletes.
