Jose Garcia

Associate Head of School, Social Studies & HS Student Government Sponsor

Jose teaches high school social studies and notably serves as AESA's Head of High School and Associate Head of School. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree in History from St. Edward's University and his Master's in Liberal Arts Degree also from St. Edwards in 2017.

Inspired by esteemed mentors such as Dr. Terry Newton and Dr. Paula Marks, Jose has been profoundly influenced in his approach to history and teaching. Recognized as the 2020-2021 High School Teacher of the Year, Jose is driven by a passion to inspire students to engage actively with the past, understand its narrative construction, and appreciate its relevance to the present and future. His commitment to fostering this passion for history is reflected in his student-centered approach to learning, aimed at empowering students to explore and critically analyze historical contexts and their implications for contemporary society.

Jose's commitment to AESA over the past 14 years is evident in his strong relationship with students and the success of AESA's High School program. On most days, you can find Jose at AESA with his beloved dog, Karl, who is also a notable figure on AESA's campus.  Jose also loves sculpting, bookbinding, and crafts of all kinds.
